Immortal Beloved (1994)

A chronicle of the life of infamous classical composer Ludwig van Beethoven and his painful struggle with hearing loss. Following Beethoven's death in 1827, his assistant, Schindler, searches for an elusive woman referred to in the composer's love letters as "immortal beloved." As Schindler solves the mystery, a series of flashbacks reveal Beethoven's transformation from passionate young man to troubled musical genius.

AMAZING movie. Gary Oldman is one of my all time favorite actors and I'll watch anything with him in it. Beethoven is my hero and to see my favorite actor playing my favorite composer is just Heaven on earth!

This movie inspired and encouraged me through some very isolated times. To have the courage to capture life and LIVE it, knowing you have this life alone, was the greatness of this story, for me. I cry when I watch it, thinking of how many people are cowed by convention and therefore lose what truly matters. We had "the Third Letter" as a reading in our wedding, and it was awesome.

what a story...and the soundtrack...beethoven himself. will never think of Symphony no & movement 2 in any other way other than to make me cry.
