A vacuum repairman moonlights as a street musician and hopes for his big break. One day a Czech immigrant, who earns a living selling flowers, approaches him with the news that she is also an aspiring singer-songwriter. this possibly is the best musical you'll ever see, or maybe the best romance film that'll ever be made.

The story about a poor, street performer and an equally-as-poor florist proves that a film does not have to have a large, Hollywood budget to make a great film. This small-budget film makes a wonderful use of music to not only push along the plot, but also display the personalities of the two main characters. The soundtrack is fantastic with a dynamic acoustic guitar. For not being actors, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova perform wonderfully together on-screen. An overall fantastically written, directed, and acted film.

Loved the movie. I can't bring myself to call it a musical, rather, it's an engaging story with beautiful music. I felt like I was there, with them in Ireland, and it was a wonderful experience I won't forget.

I just watched it today and fell in love with it already! This film is so natural, real and heartwarming. The songs are great and help telling the story and characters' feelings well. Actually I gave this movie 4.5 but after I realized the meaning of the Girl's answer "Miluju tebe", this film deserves 5 stars!!!

Splendid. It's the indie critic darling from a few years back about two musicians that cross paths in Dublin, and together they share something special together. With a small handful of exceptions, I am not a big fan of musicals as a genre, especially those where the music is the primary focus. But there is something different about Once, something personal and heartfelt. The way it is shot makes it feel incredibly real, almost like you are watching a documentary about these two young struggling artists. And both of the leads, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, are as charming as can be; you really can't help but love them. It doesn't feel like you are watching actors, either, and I mean that as a compliment. They feel like real people and really, isn't that the whole point of acting? It's a great little movie that you'll be glad you found with music that you will be whistling well after you have finished watching.
