The minimalist setting allows for some of the most stunning Shakespearean performances to shine through. David Tennant embodies the both manic madness and calculated coldness of the doomed prince of Denmark with absolute magnificence. Branagh never even comes close.

This was my first ever viewing of Hamlet, and I never realized that Shakespeare performed well is this entertaining! I doubt if I would have discerned half the humor and double entendres just from reading the text. So many famous sayings come from this play -- I wish I had watched this a long time ago!

I really enjoyed watching Dr. Who give a truly dynamic, physical performance of Hamlet. Tennant doesn't so much play Hamlet as inhabits the character to the point where it is almost impossible to tear one's eyes away from his performance. And then there's the Bard's wonderful words. Listening to Shakespeare is like taking a lesson in the history of English aphorisms. Three thumbs up!

I fell in love with David Tennant again ! He's totally legitimate in the crazy part of Hamlet. The others, the King, Laertes, Ophélia, the Queen are scary and amazing! I found the play very accurate, adapted in a modern setting, a bit too long, but then, you have all the dialogs! To be or not to be...

Fantastic!! if you love Will's writting then by golly, you will love the snot out of this. filmed as if in the theater and not to mention the cast is star studded!!
