based loosely on the life of Carol King and the Brill Building composers of the 50s and 60s ( Tin Pan Alley) Illeana Douglas is awesome as the struggling singer cum composer. You can see Illeana Douglas in episodes of Ugly Betty this season!

Anyone I know who loves music has to see this movie. Such a great cast and makes me weep (in a good way) every time!

Edna Buxton... really wants to do is sing her own material, but there's no market for that in 1959. If her character were a song, you'd want her key changes to be less abrupt -- there's not much modulation.

One of my favorite films of all time - so underrated. The story, the music, the acting - all really hit home for me. The soundtrack is amazing too. Every female songwriter should see this!!!
