I liked it, even though it is quite long and TOO dramatic !

I can't possibly tell you how profound or beautifully written this Bronte classic is, I'm a bit of a neophyte when it comes to classic literature. I can, however, tell you that this film is beautifully shot an in no way overwrought. For a period flick, we're actually let in on the fun! I just wish it was juicier, given the animal-killing, adulterous, necrophiliac premise.

Arnold transposes her gritty, minimalistic style from council estates to the costume drama with a visceral take on Emily Brontë's classic novel, the story of which is difficult to empathise with but which benefits from being presented in vivid, cinematic detail, despite the use of an archaic 4:3 aspect ratio.
