Everybody's Fine (2009)

Eight months after the death of his wife, Frank Goode looks forward to a reunion with his four adult children. When all of them cancel their visits at the last minute, Frank, against the advice of his doctor, sets out on a road trip to reconnect with his offspring. As he visits each one in turn, Frank finds that his children's lives are not quite as picture-perfect as they've made them out to be.

Everybody's Fine was a fun touching movie with beautiful cinematography and good acting. Robert De Niro was absolutely fantastic in his role and the movie was never boring.

If nothing else (and there ain't much else), Everybody's Fine does prove one thing: Even an actor with the gifts of Robert De Niro can't make bland interesting.

Even supremely talented actors like Melissa Leo (as a confidently sexy trucker) and Brendan Sexton III (as a train-station beggar) are stifled by all the pseudo-redemptive mush.

De Niro was wonderful as a typical Dad who works his life to support his family and assumes that as long as the bills are paid, all must be well. It is a great story about reconnecting families and relationships as we age. It is a must see this holiday season.
