Lee Van Cleef tells Kurt Russel to raise hell in the now-island prison that was once New York City to save Donald Pleasence. AND IT WAS DIRECTED BY JOHN CARPENTER. You're quite the fool if you dislike this movie.

What a truly great, gritty and dark post apocalyptic action adventure movie this was for it's time and still is today. Definitely one that helped set the standard and set the bar for so many to come. A true classic and a very influential favorite.

John Carpenter and Debra Hill combine to create greatness. An excellent Cast that gives you characters like Maggie, Cabbie and best of all Snake Pleskin, The vision of a walled off Manhattan that has become a cesspool where living to daylight is the only goal has cult classic written all over it, a must see I give it 6 stars

Sci-Fi action classic from the great John Carpenter starring Kurt Russell, Lee Van Cleef and Donald Pleasence. I can't believe that the studio who created the film wanted Charles Bronson because it wouldn't have been the same. Luckily, John Carpenter really wanted Kurt and got him to play him. PLEASE DON'T REMAKE IT, IT'S PERFECT HOW IT IS!
