This is my review of the first chapter in the on-going non-stop 007 franchise where that movie starts right here in 1962 titled Dr. No starring Sean Connery as British Agent 007 Bond...James Bond...(theme song plays). The story concerns Bond being sent to Jamaica to investigate the murders of a British agent and his secretary. During his investigation, he comes into contact with the evil and unscrupulous Chinese scientist Dr. No (which is why the title is so-called) who, living on an island called Crab Key, is hard at work in a nuclear laboratory. Helping Bond is Ursula Andress (mostly undressed in a bikini throughout most of the film), as well as bad gals like Zena Marshall, who almost leads Bond to his death in her bedroom, and Eunice Gayson, a Bond pickup in a London gambling house who proves herself a greater adversary than even James Bond can handle. A standard start but badass beginning to the evolutionary of an amazingly unique franchise based on Ian Fleming's novels. Dr. No gets a 9.8/10.

Everything you've heard about this movie is true! Sean Connery is the best Bond ever (Daniel Craig the new Connery? Gimme a break, not even close!), Ursula Andress is sensationally beautiful and is perfect as Bond girl, and the story is a perfect spy thriller. If you've never seen it, do yourself a favor and do your homework! You will not regret it, guaranteed!

The first "Official" bond movie is showing it's age, but that is very much a part of its charm. The film is very much a product of it's time, ageing mostly because of the chauvinism and racism that were inherent at the time of the 1960's. It's a bond film though, and to be honest the chauvinism in the Sean Connery bond movies has always been part of its appeal for men in general. Though while being chauvinist, it also feature's one of cinema's first modern tough heroines in the form of Ursula Andress. It's may be dated, but as a piece of 60's, cold war, spy fantasy the original James Bond will never loose it's appeal.

I grew up watching the Pierce Brosnan 007 movies since I was a little kid. But I never saw the one 007 movie that started it all "Dr. No". At first, I didn't wanna see any of the original ones, but I was wrong and I love watching old movies that came way before I was born. I thought Sean Connery was so awesome in this movie and also in Goldfinger. I thought Ursula Andress, in her famous coming out of the water scene as the white bikini clad Honey Ryder, was very beautiful back in those days. I also thought Joseph Wiseman's performance as the evil Dr. No was terriffic. Dr. No is one of my favorite Bond movies, next to Goldfinger and Tomorrow Never Dies.
