another great performence from brando. great great score. very important subject matter but just waaaaaaaaaaaay to dated. weird being that i've seen older movies that connect more.. this should have been more powerful.. considering the subject matter... still mad props for making a movie like this back then!!

Brando said more than once that this was his best acting on film. I tend to agree. It's not a great movie, but it's a good one.

Brando as usual is brilliant. An obscure, visually gripping film that keeps you on the edge of your seat for the duration of the story. Swift plot development and characters that are engaging and iconic make this historical tale more than just a movie. The violence and brutality were blunt and realistic. A-

Another strong political drama from Pontecorvo about the inability of European colonialists to cope with or even fully comprehend the revolutionary spirit. A few awkward time cuts introduce some confusion, but otherwise the story is quite gripping with starkly realistic scenes. Brando is superb in the lead, effortlessly slipping into the character and pulling off a natural British accent. Morricone's idiosyncratic score at first seems out of place, but eventually I really warmed up to it.

A very good politics-oriented movie about an imperialistic ambitions of the great countries toward the smaller nations. This problem remains as relevant as it was then. With interesting Brando's performance.
