I don't see why this is considered one of the worst films ever made. It's an original, energetic, and highly amusing comedy of unusual intelligence. Sure, a lot of the acting is terrible, but that's more than made up for by the comic ability of Ryan O'Neal and Richard Jeni, among others.

When Arthur Hiller, who directed An Alan Smithee Film, wanted his named taken off the picture (no doubt over a question of artistic integrity), the producers had themselves a genuine Alan Smithee film. Isn't Hollywood grand!

It's unafraid of the consequences of its existence, and it's brutally nasty , offensive, and abrasive. In other words, the kind of comedy they used to make in the 70's before things became politically correct.
