It's not about how erotic Blue Velvet is, it's about how tense, how violence, and how tragic Blue Velvet is, Blue Velvet is another great and amazing work from Lynch, and finally Kyle MacLachlan get a right role from Lynch, he is so good as Jeffrey, a normal man who very interested in mystery, not as Paul Atreides, a man who live in the future try to get a revenge, Blue Velvet is perfected again with Isabella Rossellini, Dennis Hopper, and Laura Dern terrific performance, overall Blue Velvet is incredible, i highly recommended.

David Lynch's surrealistic horror is an antagonising and frightening picture. The fierce and dark direction of Lynch is perhaps most prominent here in one of his most experimental and genre-bending films to date. The writing is also strong.

With Blue Velvet, director David Lynch is in peak form. There is delicate delivery to the aesthetics of this film - visceral and emotive, and represents one his most accomplished pictures. The abstractions and glyphs make sense somehow - like the puzzle pieces to a dream. Kyle MacLachlan plays Jeffrey, a boy living in the generic small-town community of Lumberton, U.S.A., who inadvertently stumbles on the rot and corruption concealed beneath the town's veneer of perfection. MacLachlan performs well here. The sensual Isabella Rossellini provides the film's vivid sexuality, both abrasive and alluring, as nightclub singer Dorothy whilst Laura Dern is the ethereal knockout Sandy, the policeman's daughter and Jeffrey's love interest. But it is Dennis Hopper who excels as the sadistic Frank, the villain that Dorothy is hopelessly embroiled with. An erotically charged thriller of fascinating scope and power, rivaling some of the most subversive films of the era.
