No other movie has ever toyed with my emotions and thrilled me like this one. The writing, acting, and directing all seem to just intertwine into something extremely powerful

Classic Lynch. The movie is a great template for his other works and Twin Peaks, Lost Highway, and Mulholland Dr. just seem to stem directly from the movie. The genre crossed mash up is fun with tons of different movies shoved into one story to create utter weirdness (not as weird as Inland Empire, but still weird). Some of the actors best acting and Dennis Hopper is classic as the sadistic Frank Booth.

Utterly disturbing masterpiece with an actual message of redemption after all was said and done. The pinnacle of Lynch's insanity. "Best movie of the '80s," I said in the '80s. And I still agree with me.

It seemed appropriate to watch this again for obvious reasons. Obviously one of Hopper's finest roles, but it's the tense nature of a number of the scenes that really grabs you- due to a great combination of editing, soundtrack and the characters' vulnerability. And Dean Stockwell's cameo is one of the most memorable and disturbing in recent history. The only aspect that didn't quite ring true for mine was some of Laura Dern's later scenes, but that's a pretty minor quibble given how well-rounded the rest of it is really.

Dennis Hopper's finest performance, in this mind-blowing movie spectacular. Raw and gripping to the very end.
