Disturbing, haunting story about what the war in Iraq is doing to our soldiers. Considered as a movie, it is excellent, good acting, more and more information is revealed as the story goes along.

I wanted to see this when it came out, but I missed it. I'm watching int now and it is brilliant. I think it didn't do well in the box office because of Iraq war fatigue, but it is a really great movie independent of politics. Most of the film is really just a "who done it," a man against the establishment. The indictment of conditions in Iraq comes pretty far into the film, actually. Tommy Lee Jones gives and incredible performance, remarkably restrained and nuanced. Charlize Theron once again turns in an incredibly convincing and amazing performance. Indeed, there is no one in the cast who doesn't turn in a convincing performance. Susan Sarandon has a brief turn on screen, but it is gut wrenching. Paul Haggis is a wonderful director, and this is a powerful film.

In the Valley of Elah is a mesmerizing film. It is about a retired military investigator who works with a police detective to uncover the truth behind his son's disappearance following his return from a tour of duty in Iraq. Tommy Lee Jones and Susan Sanrandon give excellent performances. The screenplay is well written. Paul Haggis did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the drama and history. In the Valley Elah is a must see.

Incredibly well acted and well written. In the Valley of Elah stays with the viewer long after the movie is over. Tommy Lee Jones and Charlize Theron prove their worth once again. Neat Josh Brolin cameo too.
