The Wild Geese (1978)

A British multinational company seeks to overthrow a vicious dictator in central Africa. It hires a band of (largely aged) mercenaries in London and sends them in to save the virtuous but imprisoned opposition leader who is also critically ill and due for execution. Just when the team has performed a perfect rescue, the multinational does a deal with the vicious dictator leaving the mercenary band to escape under their own steam and exact revenge.

A terrific action film featuring the amazing combination of Richard Burton, Richard Harris, and Roger Moore. It also has a nice bit of morality in it too, something that's hard to find in these kinds of movies. It might not be the greatest action film ever made but it is certainly one of the best.

Great film. Based on Daniel Carneys book (which is also great). Some changes to the characters, but well done, great film, loved it since I was a kid!

A good war yarn featuring some good old British boys who should know better. Richard Burton leads a team of soldiers into hostile Africa to rescue an ousted president. It doesn't go smoothly with ambushes all the way through and the suave annoyance of Roger Moore grating after a while. The ending is the choker but the action holds up as an impressive war movie.

starts out quite well then becomes tediously predictable, some funny FX as well as the acting along side it.

My all time favourite film of all time and until time expands and becomes something far greater than time i am sure it will remain there forever!
