Blood from the Mummy's Tomb (1971)

Two Egyptologists, Professor Fuchs and Corbeck, are instrumental in unleashing unmitigated horror by bringing back to England the mummified body of Tara, the Egyptian Queen of Darkness. Fuchs's daughter becomes involved in a series of macabre and terrifying incidents, powerless against the forces of darkness, directed by Corbeck, that are taking possession of her body and soul to fulfill the ancient prophesy that Queen Tara will be resurrected to continue her reign of unspeakable evil.

It's a darkly fun yarn - and another proud example of what can be achieved on a limited budget with talent.

(33%) It's clearly a Hammer from the 70's as horror plays second fiddle for much of the run time after the very lovely Valerie Leon's boobs. There's a good deal of bloody necks and death here and it's all put together quite well considering the problems with production, but the plot is wafer thin and the movie is far from essential viewing bar that of Hammer fans.

Hammer's final foray into Egyptology and a brave stab at doing something else with the genre without an actual bandaged mummy. It's effectively an adaption of Bram Stoker's story 'The Jewel of Seven Stars' and though confusing at the start, this is probably because of director Seth Holt's death one week before completion, and the movie had to be taken over by Michael Carreras. It does pull together in the end however to make it a chilling and quite gory later Hammer treat. As usual, a great cast of British character actors work well together including James Villiers, Hugh Burden, Rosalie Cruthchley and George Couloris and Andrew Keir fills in for Peter Cushing who left the production due to the death of his wife.

The picture says it all, since this mummy is a youg female she is inexplicably perfectly preserved (as opposed to the shrivaled mummified men normally on offer) - and starts bleeding whenever she moves a step closer to being resurected. Saying that though it is still a good Hammer horror film, with more suspence then some of the horror films on offer nowadays

A confusing mess of random ideas its a shame as it has some good scenes and a decent cast. As a film though it makes little to no sense Valerie Leon was stunning in this though so it gets 2 stars as watchable.
