One by one the archaeologists who discover the 4,000-year-old tomb of Princess Ananka are brutally murdered. Kharis, high priest in Egypt 40 centuries ago, has been brought to life by the power of the ancient gods and his sole purpose is to destroy those responsible for the desecration of the sacred tomb. But Isobel, wife of one of the explorers, resembles the beautiful princess, forcing the speechless and tormented monster to defy commands and abduct Isobel to an unknown fate.

So overall, this mummy movie is very good, and has remained extremely watch-able and entertaining, even now.

The 1950s remake of the Mummy from the 30s, (no review of the 30s one), is sppkoky for its day. A classic cult flick.

Creature design is nice. Boring movie though. The original is way better.

Very little gore but very atmospheric and poses the ethics of digging up graves to put on display in museums. Of course Karloff's is better but this is the only one to hold its own against the classic to this day. Pastell is very good in this.

This Hammer relaunch takes more the 1940's Mummy movies than from Karloff's classic 1932 film...which right off the bat might worry you. I was, however, pleasantly suprised with the finished product. The Mummy is one monster than looks better in color for sure. And Christopher Lee makes the most out of what is usually a hapless role. What we are left with is probably the best Mummy film I've ever seen which, while not really saying much, is a suprise. It takes the aspects that worked from the numerous sub-par at best Mummy sequels of the 40's and blends them together for an enjoyable enough film.
