Appleseed Alpha (2014)

Awesome story was boom...and i felt like i was in a game ..sold on the fantasy alone!

After only learning that a new CG Appleseed film would be released very soon and watching a short trailer, I knew this would be good! However after watching it, I was left very disappointed. For a 90 minute film I was surprised by how boring it was. Every cliché is in here from the bad ass bad gu who turns good at the end for no reason, the untrusting side character that ends up trusting the main characters after a few scenes of dialogue, the character thats on a classified and dangerous mission that could save the world *yawn*. Shinji Aramaki does have a nack for showing off the glorious CG animation which I admit looks smooth, think back to how gorgeous the CGI looked in Final Fantasy The Spirits Within, this is brilliant in that regard! But just with Final Fantasy, its very dull. Sub Standard sci fi. A bitter disappointment as I love Appleseed. Hopefully the next film will be more exciting.

Stylish, sexy, violent and with an interesting soundtrack. This follow up to the superb anime is faithful whilst retaining all the character of the original. Superb CG also makes this both a visual and audio treat.
