Artistically important in the grand scheme of cinema and 1950s stifling censorious nature. It's basically B-movie super-director/producer who places his wife of the time up on the screen and shows us how beautiful she is. And yes, Vadim had great taste in women. Brigitte Bardot is so hot and stacked and goddamn those commie censor fucks for not allowing us to see any frank nudity here, but it did push the staid standards of the day when it came out for it's daring (but now very tame) sexuality and flesh and somewhere there is a story and a plot told that is melodramatic and involves three men all related to each other in one way or another who try to sack Bardot. Visually appealing but ultimately a dated and slightly boring piece unless you don't mind staring at Bardot's body (even if it is clothed for most of it) for the entire 90 or so minutes.

absurd and ridiculous plot (if you can call it that), basically bardot is hot and does the coy sex kitten thing like no other and this film is simply an exploitation of that

"...E Deus criou a mulher" Um filme típico de Roger Vadim: objetificação da mulher, que aparece sempre como a grande tentação. Uma versão francesa dos filmes de 'sex bomb' dos EUA. Certamente influenciou muito o cinema mundial, inclusive o cinema brasileiro (hahaha). Apesar de bobo e da história ridicula, não me parece forçado -- exceto na cena de abertura. Mesmo assim tem um certo charme, pela música, cenários e roupas da época.

Roger Vadim's debut movie is a turgid and boring affair. The story of the love triangle that ends in disaster with Bardot at the centre is told in such a laconic way you could fall asleep halfway through and not have missed anything come the final scenes. Even the frequent glimpses of a naked Bardot is not enough to keep the interest up. Her frequent pouting and expressionless eyes do little to enhance characterisation in the way that say Marylin Monroe could do. I need to see a decent movie soon. Fed up with rubbish
