The Color Purple (1985)

An epic tale spanning forty years in the life of Celie, an African-American woman living in the South who survives incredible abuse and bigotry. After Celie's abusive father marries her off to the equally debasing 'Mister' Albert Johnson, things go from bad to worse, leaving Celie to find companionship anywhere she can. She perseveres, holding on to her dream of one day being reunited with her sister in Africa.

This movie always makes me cry so bad. I never have a dry eye when I watch this film. I personally think tha Whoppie Goldberg should of gotten the best actress oscar for this one instead of best supporting in Ghost. I ove this movie it's about love and friendship it definitely speaks to me in a way that you can never give up hope and that love can always be around you. One of my favourite parts is when Sug sings Miss Celi blues in the club I love her voice and acting is stealler in this film. This is one of my favourite movies and I love all of the actors and the acting in it. I had no idea that Steven Spilberg directed this it was a shock to me.

I remember watching this when I was younger and it felt so long, I think because they kept replaying it on television, it was a bit overbearing, but it's a well done film, takes you to the darker realities. It's also an experience, a bad experience of your own sympathizing with the characters. It also felt more like an indulgence in bad memories, rather than the telling of a tale. (And I must point out how much Oprah could pass for Whoppi 's grandmother in this film and they are practically the same age.)

Esta pelÃcula muestra la lucha de una mujer afro americana para conseguir su libertad. Lo que le tomÃ³ varios aÃ±os pero que al final pudo disfrutar de lo lindo. Al marido..uhhh...al marido lo mandÃ³ pÃ¡ la mismÃsima mierda. Nunca mÃ¡s volvÃo a lamerle el culo.
