In January 1963, British journalist Leo Cauffield suddenly disappears from his home in Beirut. His wife Sally knew that he was working part-time for British intelligence, but was not prepared to be told by the British embassy that they suspect he has defected to Communist Russia. As his wife puts together the pieces of the mysterious jigsaw of the past, tracking her passionate relationship with her husband and his history as former head of MI6's counter-espionage section, her relentless search for the truth takes her to London, New York and finally Moscow.

Based on the story of a real spy, it interested me potentially, but not really. The movie was quite flat, maybe because of the stereotype of the movie spy, such as 007. Quite fake some Sharon Stone's expressions, even though she confirms to be a great and charming actress. Even faker the supposed Russian houses and offices and hotel rooms... I know the movie portraits stuff that has now more than 60 years, but I don't think the Russian rooms were that way 60 years ago, as they're surely not now.

An interesting look at a part of British history I wasn't aware of. Kept me intrigue, only let down by some confusing edits, but worth a look netherhteless.

Kanievska's aesthetically parched film doesn't illuminate the communist paranoia of the era, but provides Sharon Stone with a handy reel of countless Oscar clips.

Based on the true story of a retired Brittish MI6 agent who works for the KGB as told from the angle of his relationship with his wife. The film works in that sense but in that same sense that's what makes what could've been a suspense-filled, fast-paced thriller into a dull and dreary drama.
