Wonder Wheel (2017)

The story of four characters whose lives intertwine amid the hustle and bustle of the Coney Island amusement park in the 1950s: Ginny, an emotionally volatile former actress now working as a waitress in a clam house; Humpty, Ginny's rough-hewn carousel operator husband; Mickey, a handsome young lifeguard who dreams of becoming a playwright; and Carolina, Humpty's long-estranged daughter, who is now hiding out from gangsters at her father's apartment.

Movies don’t become great by association, and Wonder Wheel is a far cry from “Streetcar.” There are ample flaws in this film, but they certainly don’t rise to the level of tragic.

Wonder wheel is worth watching. The way Woody Allen chose to use neon lights colors to portray the actors emotions was really interesting. It was like watching a play on screen and you see the characters grapple with their own individual demons. Kate Winslet was truly amazing she did an amazing job as well as Justin Timberlake and Jim belushi. Don't really understand why critics are being so hard on this movie.

One of Allen's lesser entries. The movie lacks focus and uses familiar elements, which bogs the story down more often than not. There are engaging moments, but the narrative feels uneven throughout. What carries the movie is the gorgeous production design and cinematography, which captures the beauty of 1950's New York. Along with the strong performances from the cast, especially another stellar turn by the talented Winselt. She plays a complex character who never begs for the audience's sympathy. It's impressive work from one of the best of her generation. There is also solid supporting turns by Timberlake, Belushi, and Temple, who is also memorable here. Had Allen gotten a better grip on the material, this would easily be one of the best movies of the year. Overall, this is just an okay effort, elevated by Winslet's work.

Intelligent humor and unsurpassed ease Allen. Café Society was such a half, Manhattan consisted of this completely. Woody's new film has almost lost what I love him for. Like would all as usually, love triangle, thin the irony over own characters and love to locations, but not in basis of all of this lies. Only by allowing you to dream, you immediately get hit on the head and again find yourself on the ground. Wheel of wonders is a tough movie. The problematic part is that there is only one character at the head. My friend, when he saw the film, gave him a short review: "The entire time yelling some woman!". And you can't blame him for saying that. Actors and stunningly beautiful work of the operator and colorist, dilute and hold you. Life is still an amusement Park, but with regards to this movie with a migraine.
