After learning that a boy their age has been accidentally killed near their rural homes, four boys decide to go see the body. Gordie, Vern, Chris, and Teddy encounter a mean junk man and a marsh full of leeches, but they also learn more about one another and their very different home lives. Looking back on this film I had to upgrade it to perfection. It is so very good. The soundtrack, the story, the cast and it reminds you of all those times as a child you may have gone off on your own. I will say I've seen this many times and never noticed until today that Feldman's ear was all messed up. Maybe I just never caught the times they mention it or the HD really made it obvious? But the casting is near perfect. Even the bit players are 80's staples in my opinion. Sutherland has got the bad guy thing down pat. The ending is kind of a bummer though. Reminds me of how I drifted as well.

A strong, touching, emotional movie. Perfect casting. It is good to see young boys like that stand by one another through thick and thin.

A poignant film about friendship growing up and mortality. A true coming of age story. One of the best movies I have seen in ages.
