Undertow (1949)

Undertow stars Scott Brady as a gambler just out of wartime military service. No longer interested in wagers and speculations, Brady wants only to open up a mountain vacation lodge. Before this can take place, Brady is framed for murder, and forced to hide out in the home of Peggy Dow. With the help of Dow and a policeman friend, Brady searches for the real murderer. Watch carefully in Undertow and you'll spot new Universal contractee "Roc" Hudson as a plainclothes detective.

David Gordon Green loves him some southern culture. Another strong addition to his filmography. It's another film where there's a lot of moments that really have nothing to do with the main story, but make the movie more interesting and gives the characters a chance to develop. I really enjoyed it. My biggest problem would be why the boys didn't tell authorities? They're on the run this whole time, but they didn't tell the cops why? A movie that seems simple at first, but then you go down the first unexpected drop in this roller coaster as it takes you for a surprising ride, ending with an ambiguous ending that'll have you discussing for hours upon hours.

Very good movie! Not really much action which is good and not a sad story either. The relationship with his father is what lot of people have with there dads. I mean you can understand how they feel.

David Gordon Green is one of my favorite directors (at least his earlier films). Shocked it took me so long to see this film. Haunting, beautiful, flawless.

A masterpiece. A story that will get to you. Very well told. Highly tense atmosphere, superb performances, temendously disquieting. You will love it... and think of it later. Don't miss it!!
