Killer's Kiss (1955)

Davey Gordon, a New York City boxer at the end of his career, falls for dancer Gloria Price. However, their budding relationship is interrupted by Gloria's violent boss, Vincent Rapallo, who has eyes for Gloria. The two decide to skip town, but before they can, Vincent and his thugs abduct Gloria, and Davey is forced to search for her among the most squalid corners of the city, with his enemy hiding in the shadows.

Doncs m'ha agradat molt, no entenc les crítiques. Història simple, directa, i amb algun toc d'enginy molt efectiu. Direcció & fotografia magistrals. El so és horrible, els actors també, i el final segur que no és el que en Kubrick volia. Tot i així, 8/10.

The notorious combination of light and shadow, ensemble artistically in the hands of Stanley Kubrick, the gigantic legend of Hollywood. The film, laden with looping inter connected plots, trades out as finest musical composition, descending you into some strange imaginative mood, where the world seemed to be narrowed down only for the three dimensional characters, so the director has displayed his devouring hunger to convey the briskly passing accidents that mold or link the stranger through tan intense thread. His mind's eye has commandingly been liberated on the screen, specially when the dancing performance is shown, suitably photographed in the company of darkness and luminosity , along with the background narrator's voice depicting a tragic tale....

Kubrick's first semi-solid feature. Extremely strong cinematography for a film following something like Fear and Desire. Its climax is one of the greatest in film noir history; extremely memorable.

I love Stanley Kubrick's Impressive and Ironic Style this grandious Film Noir is defently one of my favourite Movies the bombastic Soundtrack, the Box Fight, the Dark Style, the Drunken Free-Masonrys and of course the Chase and the Fight at the End in the Room with Showroom Dummies it's like an Gladiator Fight

Very underrated. The story and acting are between decent and good, but the photography/directing is fantastic. Kubrick has improved immensely as a filmmaker between the preceding effort (Fear and Desire) and Killer's Kiss. It is true that much of Fear and Desire's trouble lies in its weak story/screenplay (which was not Kubrick's work), but even the composition of shots in that film was nowhere near as eye-pleasing or as interesting as that of the shots in his better-known works. It just doesn't look like Kubrick. His next film, Killer's Kiss, represents a huge step in the direction of these better known films. In fact, I think Killer's Kiss looks better than his next film. So I guess I'm saying, Killer's Kiss deserves to be watched. It's not just for Kubrick worshipers; it's for people who like good movies.
