Kubrick's second film. A film noir about a boxer who never got his best a club dancer and a bad boss.

A cracking low budget thriller that contains enough originality - all from director Stanley Kubrick - to mark it out as a thriller par excellence. Gritty, bleak, and occassionally violent, not many people get to make a second film as good as this.

I was quite surprised by this one. I didn't expect much from one of Kubrick's first, and only 67 minutes at that. The music was great, and the plot isn't terribly interesting but is certainly made up for by the shots, cinematography and classic locations that have now been ripped off by people with no imagination. This was definitely better than Lolita; I might actually like it more than Paths of Glory...

The second film of Stanley showed the potential of this historical director...

Kubrick's second feature film is an improvement over his first feature and provides his audience with a good noir story.
