Top Five (2014)

Though he began in stand-up comedy, Andre Allen hit the big-time as the star of a trilogy of action-comedies about a talking bear but now he wants to be taken seriously. His passion project about the Haitian Revolution, a movie called Uprize, was panned by the NY Times film critic. A couple days before the wedding to his reality star fiancée, he's forced to spend the day with Chelsea Brown, a profile writer for the New York Times. Unexpectedly, he opens up to her, and as they wind their way across New York, he tries to get back in touch with his comedic roots.

I can't see where they rated this movie high at all. Whoever rated it must be diehard Chris Rock fans. For that rating we expected to see a really funny movie based somewhat on comic stand-up but saw just a poor attempt at Chris Rock trying to make a movie. If you must see everything Chris makes at least save your money and wait for Netflix. Oh, and no lie. At our theatre an African American couple actually left after 30 min into the movie. They couldn't even stand to stay and support Chris. Enough said.

I think this was the best movie i've seen this year. Chris rock handled issues of race, sexuality, fidelity, celebrity culture, and alcoholism expertly.

This is one of the best movies I've ever seen, especially from Mr. Rock. I am still laughing about some of the sight gags and even some of the more serious parts of the film 2 weeks after viewing it. I'm not sure what some of the other reviewers were even watching the same movie as I. Brilliant. Funny. Full of surprises. Fast Paced. Want to see it again for details I missed the first time. Rosario is extremely well cast, as are most of the other players. It makes you think, cry and laugh, sometimes all at the same time.

I miss Chris Rock on stand up and it's good to see him acting with always his groove. And I could fall more in love with Rosario Dawson, she is hot as hell!

An INSTANT CLASSIC!! I Highly recommend spending the money to see this one in theaters. It was hilarious, great dialogue, it was hip-hop, it was black, it was show business, A Very Honest film in my regard. Written & Directed by Chris Rock, Co-Producers: Jay-Z, Kanye Music: Questlove so you gone nod your head.
