Having only recently watched the original, for the first time, I enjoyed this just as much. The story is very similar and the cast are just as great with arguably better written comedy in my opinion. The visual effects are improved upon, there are more emphasis on different characters outside of the main 4. I perosnally don't get why people tend to dislike this one so much. Another easy, lighthearted watch with a great soundtrack.

II is not nearly as good or funny as the original, but little bits and pieces are amusing, especially Dana's boss that doesn't ever utter a coherent word.

Even the special effects are more to the point of the comedy than they were in the first film. For some reason, this appears to leave more room for the sort of random funny business that Mr. Murray and his friends do best, or to which they react with most aplomb.

A lot better than people remember. If you saw it years ago and got caught up in the flow of thinking it's bad, watch it again with adult eyes and you'll see there is a lot of goodness to take away from this. Granted it's the family friendly Ghostbusters, not the one targeting a young adult audience, but there's still a lot of quality here. Trust me, try it, watch it and analyse it with your geek eyes.
