another overrated Hal Hartley film. There seems to be no main plot in this film, just a handful of subplots, none of which are particularly interesting. I am once again surprised to see this described as a comedy, I completely missed any attempt at humour. I noticed the director attempting to be quirky at several points in the film, all of which were totally out of place as the rest of the film, the cast, the story, and the direction was completely dull.

Watched this again recently having only just heard about the tragic death of Adrienne Shelly. Trying to explain who she is and who Hal Hartley is is nigh on impossible. The best thing to do is stick it on and watch it. Truly a great great example of what low budget US independent films were capable of at the zenith of that period. She will be missed. Looking forward to 'Waitress'.

Although he's never gained any wide notoriety as one of the leaders in the American indie film scene of the 90's, this debut film from Hal Hartley is a real gem.

This movie is really bad. The acting is wooden. The writing is poor. We kept watching, hoping things would get better. It gets worse.

Another quirky Hartley film. You have to watch his films all the way through as they start slow and you have to get into the rhythm.
