Jamais 2 sans 3. Apres deux excellents films, le troisieme opus de Quentin Tarantino est un bijou de thriller, une adaptation parfaitement executee d'un livre d'Elmore Leonard. Les acteurs y sont en etat de grace, la mise en scene sans faille (la derniere heure en est une lecon), les dialogues sont referentiels sans que ca empiete sur le recit et la musique magnifie le tout. En 1997, Tarantino n'est plus le Next Big Thing. Il est le Big Thing.

This used to be my least favorite by Quentin, but that's because when you're 14 you don't typically have good taste in movies. This really is Quentin's best movie. The dialog is crackling, the characters are alive and real, the soundtrack is irresistible, it's just an incredibly well made film. Everyone from Pam Grier, to DeNiro, to Keaton, Jackson, and Forster are all terrific and give performances of a life time. It lives in the shadow of Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, but it is much better than both of those.

One of Tarantino's best film that shows his Maturity in his directorial style and writing. This is his most mature film up to date. Characters actually sounds like real people, not like video store nerds, or Tarantino himself. The characters are 3 dimensional and the story is engaging at a addictive level. And the opening title of the film with the song Across 110th Street is one of the most memorable film opening that Ive seen in a while.

It's hard for me to review a Tarantino movie because I always end up loving them. He is one of the greatest writers/directors of our time, and even if you don't like the subject matter I feel like you can still appreciate the artistry that goes into his films. I thought Jackie Brown was going to be the first of his movies to disappoint me since I had never really heard much about it, but I was wrong. Still a perfect track record. I would love to take/teach a film studies class where all that is shown are Tarantino films. One final thought (which is nothing novel, just deserves repeating): the man has perfected dialogue...and character development...and suspense...and everything.
