Excellent thriller set almost entirely on a train -- about an agent foiling the plot of assassins trying to get to Abraham Lincoln on his way to Washington and his inauguration in 1861.

"Le grand attentat" Mis a part que l'acteur principal ne sait pas jouer les mecs evanouis c'est un film sans plus mais regardable.

Monday, July 11, 2011 (1951) The Tall Target MYSTERY/ SUSPENSE/ THRILLER "based on a true story: the attempted assassination of President-elect Abraham Lincoln, even before he was able to assume his duties in Washington"RT A movie starring Dick Powell who was a memorable character in the 'film noir' film "Murder, My Sweet" did another memorable character here which the two characters are almost identical and is based on a true story! Although directed by Anthony Mann whose well known for his crime and adult Western films, this film does have a Alfred Hitchcock sort of feel to it with a satisfying conclusion! Most memorable line is when the African American associate says "I thought 'freedom' shouldn't be something we're entitled but something we were born with"! Strong 3 out of 4

Good example of noir as style instead of genre.

Not one of Director Mann's best films with a pretty colourless lead in Dick Powell. Supposedly based on a true story, the film has not aged that well, and it would'nt have been a stretch fr any modern detective to work out the plot twists.
