I enjoyed watching a detective story whose plot and atmosphere was radically different from most detective movies we can watch. Now I'm definitely not familiar with the gay subculture of the time (!), and I guess it is full of cliches...

Let's keep this as a straight movie and let's think and judge the movie with a straight mind, and Cruising is truly a great film, what Steve Burns feel throughout the film is more of a realistic than confusing, he have this worrying and affects feeling on what's gonna happen's next, and Al Pacino surely know how to make that perfectly and he is incredible, director William Friedkin did have a different style compare to one of his previous movie like The Exorcist which i absoultely love, from the cinematography, the lighting, and a music choose, overall, Cruising is a very solid film.

Taking away the kissing, caressing and a few bloody killings, Friedkin has no story, though picture pretends to be a murder mystery combined with a study of Al Pacino's psychological degradation.

Friedkin goes homo again but this time with a different twist, with the story of a New-York Cop investigating a brutal series of murders in the Village. Again, very gritty in it's realism and a very crude portrayal of the S & M culture wich won't please everyone, be warned ! Pacino is great as always ! By the way, the movie was released in 1980, not 2007 as indicated, but the DVD release IS this week !

Al Pacino interprÃ¨te le rÃ´le le plus pÃ©rilleux de sa carriÃ¨re mais surtout l'un de ses meilleurs. Friedkin a Ã©tÃ© accusÃ© d'homophobie lors de la sortie du film mais ses dÃ©tracteurs n'ont rien compris de l'intÃ©rÃªt de ce thriller nerveux et violent. Le New York Gay SM que Friedkin filme ici de maniÃ¨re ultra rÃ©aliste et qui est, je le reconnais, assez difficle Ã regarder, sert de toile de fond Ã une histoire policiÃ¨re, obligeant Pacino Ã s'infiltrer dans ce milieu pour rÃ©soudre une sÃ©rie de crimes sordides. Le personnage qu'il interprÃ¨te est poussÃ© jusqu'Ã ses derniÃ¨rs retranchements moraux et psychologiques. Une histoire bien ficelÃ©e et un contexte assez extrÃªme donnent en gÃ©nÃ©ral un film Ã scandales, et c'est le cas de Cruising.
