Exquisite demonstration of all power corrupting & all corruption being brutalizing. Authority gone unrestrained will inevitably devolve into cruelty for its own sake. Prisons & police should be run so completely opposite of how they're run that its excruciating to to contemplate the injustice that they are regularly the source of & the intractability of our commitment to the way they're run now. Makes clear why so many can't contain their hatred of cops & authority figures in general. Wanted to ring the lead researcher's neck throughout.

Really intense. It's a well made film that brings to life the horror of what happened; the emotions and experiences are so real. I really liked the interview scenes during the credits that helped to humanize the guards, and remind us that a system and expectations can cause good people to do bad things.

The convicts are like actors trapped on a set, their awareness of a line between this-is-just-an-experiment and playing power-games dissolving. Zimbardo comes off as a Faustian fiend; the film itself glitters and glares a bit too simply and devilishly.
