Quite an impressive effort from Blake Edwards, and it's notable for being one of the director's few non-comedies. Indeed, this is a highly tense, atmospheric thriller that boasts a good script, fine performances (Lee Remick carries the lead role extremely well), and a score from Henry Mancini that is one of his very best. If nothing else, the movie is proof positive that Edwards was far more versatile than some might have given him credit for, and I'd love to have seen more from him in this genre.

Credit the film’s modest virtues to Edwards’s undeniable verve as a visual stylist. Still, with a running time slightly over two hours, Experiment in Terror is a bit too protracted to count as an unqualified success.

Extremely lurid for 1962 and very very good also.

Probably the scariest opening in movie history. Glenn Ford and Lee Remick kick ass, as usual...

Unusual San Francisco-based Hitchcockian thriller from Blake Edwards, rather overlong and under plotted, but well-acted by Glenn Ford and the beautiful Lee Remick, and with a characteristically fine score by Henry Mancini. Hard to believe this is from the Pink Panther helmsman.
