A marvel of poise and circumspect emotion from French auteur Robert Bresson.

Phenomenal masterpiece. The psychological analysis of the stylized figures make it as touching as the Crime and Punishment. Images are so unique to Bresson.

An amazing piece of commenting on the meaning of life. The themes deal with the thrills of an individual challenging the established order through subtle thievery. The visual style allows us to commit crimes that aren't horrendous but rather an exercise in trickery.Bresson proves here his mastery of visual storytelling.

Bresson, one of cinema's purest geniuses has made one of his most accomplished films. It establishes each (brilliant) scene and thought thoroughly, seamlessly, and blatantly (with Bresson's humane techniques, of course), but it wants use to realize the beauty of how it moves us to see this man go down this path through the art of film, and how the art of film is a singular art form. This film has infinite brilliance. The scene where Michel and his accomplices are at the train station is one of the most certain acts of genius ever to be captured in cinema, in the way of the hunting scene in "Le Regle de Jeu".

A fascinating film personally. I loved the shots of the feats of legerdemain performed by the cast. Also, I personally loved the film as a whole, it brought a new perspective to the idea of redemption seen in lots of films especially by Scorsese and even in Coppola. I admired the way the acting was done, more for display than for emotion and the idea, sparse with no attachment and yet powerful in its force was just amazing.
