The Slender Thread (1965)

Alan is a Seattle college student volunteering at a crisis center. One night when at the clinic alone, a woman calls up the number and tells Alan that she needs to talk to someone. She informs Alan she took a load of pills, and he secretly tries to get help. During this time, he learns more about the woman, her family life, and why she wants to die. Can Alan get the cavalry to save her in time before it's too late?

one of the first Sidney Poitier movies I saw, and it left me wanting more.

Suffers from a slight soap opera story that fails to hold together for 98 minutes.

This movie was pretty great, I'd say. I mean, maybe I'm crazy but it seems hard to believe that this kind of subject matter was in a movie at this time but maybe I'm out of the loop. Anyway, I liked it.

what a great performance from one of the best actors of the 20th century i enjoyed this movie more than any of the new shit that i watched this whole year

I love Anne Bancroft. Sidney Poitier is also great to watch. However,this film is not to be used for training employees in a crisis center, I would think.
