"Marathon Man" has shades of Hitchcock with the necessary trappings of the kind of thriller that was prominent at the time: a suspense story fueled by dark paranoia and extremely high tension. Even today, the film manages to make the same kind of impact that it made at the time of its release. After you've seen it, you'll be asking yourself that one question: is it safe? Is it safe? Is it safe?

They don't make them like this anymore. The suspense is brilliant because the audience is given the credit of being able to pay attention for more than five seconds before something has to explode. All the actors are brilliant and for the first time i have to say that an actor was equally as good as Dustin Hoffman; Laurence Olivier is a legend

They don't make them like they used to! A terrific thriller, where the tension builds and builds. Laurence Olivier as you've never seen him before as a merciless nazi, but for me this is Hoffman's finest acting performance. His sheer terror when the henchman come for him in the bath is acting genius, I'd say better than when he is in the dentist's chair.
