The Possession of Michael King (2014)

The film tells the story of documentary filmmaker Michael King (Shane Johnson), who doesn't believe in God or the Devil. Following the sudden death of his wife, Michael decides to make his next film about the search for the existence of the supernatural, making himself the center of the experiment – allowing demonologists, necromancers, and various practitioners of the occult to try the deepest and darkest spells and rituals they can find on him – in the hopes that when they fail, he'll once and for all have proof that religion, spiritualism, and the paranormal are nothing more than myth. But something does happen. An evil and horrifying force has taken over Michael King. And it will not let him go.

Nothing new here. Found footage with a background score that swells or darkens to inform you how you should be feeling. Echoes of 'John Safran vs. God', without balls.

After an efficient start, The Possession Of Michael King drags, weighing itself down with genre conventions the filmmakers don’t seem to understand or care about.

I like the idea of it all,but I'm just not a fan of the found footage stuff and some of the acting wasn't exactly great. The lead guy was pretty good though especially through all the possession stuff, and the effects for the cheap budget were impressive. If your into the paranormal activity style films you should be able to find a decent watch here

I thought this movie was typical... That it will be another disappointment. But I was WRONG. The movie was literally EXCELLENT. Another type of possession not seen in movies of this genre until now. I really enjoyed it. It presented the possession from a new angle, in a new way. It is truly a shame it can not be the Part 2 of it... However, you will not be disappoint watching it. Yes - it slightly has the elements of the Paranormal Activity and the Blair Witch Project, but in its genuine way. I totally recommend it! It is totally worth of watching. I recommend you not to be alone when you watch it... ...You have been warned.

Not exactly the best possession/exorcism movie out there, although it did have some creepy scenes.
