An interesting movie about a soldier who is thought to have been killed in the Vietnam war but shows up at home looking good as new. Slowly though he starts to disintegrate into the corpe he should be. Bob Clark is an excellent film maker who tackles some heavy subject matter in this dark movie. Tom Savini is the make-up guy on this one which is always good.

An example of Bob Clark's brilliance. One of the best early Bob Clark films, an interesting and amusing variation of the classic "Monkey's Paw" tale. Overall a spooky, atmospheric, funny, and chilling B movie.

After being informed by the army that their son had died in Vietnam, the boy suddenly shows up at the family's door, a little bit changed... Original premise at the time, but has been done better since; not sure how Vietnam vets will feel about being depicted as soulless killing machines.

When I heard this was a Vietnam allegory, I expected something upbeat, since that war was one of the USA's great victories. Then I heard Richard Backus was in it, but I confused him with Jim "Thurston Howell III" Backus. Then I went to McDonald's.

Not only an effective chiller, but one of the great drama's about coming home from Vietnam and probably the only one I know of made while the war was still going on. A sparse, powerful, and intelligent film with astounding subtextual implications. While its ambitions overextend its budget in the end(a very young Tom Savini, who had just returned from 'Nam himself, making the best of what he has to work with in his first makeup job) this is still an essential horror film and one of the most overlooked films of the 70's.
