The Last Exorcism (2010)

After years of performing "exorcisms" and taking believers' money, Reverend Marcus travels to rural Louisiana with a film crew so he can dispel what he believes is the myth of demonic possession. The dynamic reverend is certain that this will be another routine "exorcism" on a disturbed religious fanatic but instead comes upon the blood-soaked farm of the Sweetzer family and a true evil he would have never thought imaginable.

A smart and suspensful film that throws out the idea of "it could be an exorcist or could be that she is psychologically damaged". The characters are well flushed out and you feel for these people. This film, while doesnt live fully up to the standard of the blair witch project, is suspensful, chilling and has one of the most suprising and dark endings that you will never see coming.

I liked it. Ok it's not very original but still enjoyable

Excellent cast. As this movie ages I hope it is appreciated more for what it is - a well made and very scary horror movie. Don't believe me? Watch it by yourself at night.

This is probably one of the very rarest cases in which the "mockumentary" genre is seldom used as an excuse to break the fourth wall. Though the last few shots are awful and do not make any sense to the film at all, it is a very suspenseful, unique horror flick, probably taking the style from Oren Peli's 2009 film PARANORMAL ACTIVITY (or at least that's what it would totally remind me of if you took out all the violence.) That said, THE LAST EXORCISM is an amazing film that I will probably watch three or four more times. Even though I am very faithful and this is contrarily a full-fledged anti-God movie (don't even TRY denying THAT one right there!), I enjoyed it very much, and it is probably the best PG-13 horror there is.

Although it may not be as original or good as some of the previous entries in the "exorcism" genre, its Blair Witch style mockumentary, its creepy atmospheres and the idea at the very heart of the film still provide jumps amongst the sighs of "seen this before". The ending does not do the hour and a half preceding it any justice, but the overall outcome does exactly what it's designed to do: scare the hell out of you.
