Stuart Rosenberg e' uno che conosce il mestiere. Ha uno stile solido e uno sguardo incisivo. Ma qui deve fare i conti con una sceneggiatura sfilacciata che non sa mai quale strada imboccare in questo piccolo universo abitato da balordi, poliziotti corrotti e mafiosi di quartiere. A mezza via tra il cinema d'azione, la critica sociale e la commedia di caratteri il film solo a tratti riesce a convincere, e quando lo fa dobbiamo ringraziare il piglio realistico di Rosenberg che riesce a creare un equilibrio, per la verita' piuttosto instabile, tra i vari generi, non disdegnando personaggi e momenti umoristici. Eric Roberts gigioneggia. Mickey Rourke fa De Niro. Daryl Hannah e' bella come mai.

This film almost lost me with how utterly annoying Eric Roberts is in it. But, he's an integral part of this story about family bonds and friendship and a burglary-gone-wrong in the center of it all. Rourke was a rising star at this point and showcased his trademark smooth style. Points also for Frank Vincent being in this.

I adored this movie in high school/college, and for the life of me I can't figure out why. Essentially a character study, but without interesting characters. Mickey Rourke does a good job, but Eric Roberts' goofy performance is too much. Kind of nice at times, but completely inconsequential.
