These Mummy films are getting progressively worse. Ten to fifteen minutes of earlier Mummy films are used in this dog.

WOW. I guess it was bound to happen...the Mummy takes the bayou! This is almost certainly the worst entry in this series. How a Mummy that drowns in a swamp in Mass. ends up in a Lousiana swamp is among the many unexplainable plot points in this film. Thankfully the movie is only an hour long. Chaney shows no interest in the role...and I don't blame him. Apparently the writers also had no interest in the movie. Virginia Christine isn't bad but the movie certainly is.

The Mummy movies have now entered a weird timeline. Each movie ends up taking place decades after the last. Tomb was 30 years after Hand, Ghost was 4 years after Tomb....now we enter the final Classic Mummy film...which takes place 25 years after the events of Ghost. The world hasn't progressed much in nearly 60 years...in fact it's still the mid-40s! Beyond the strange time jumps the writers took with the series...they didn't do a whole lot new in any of the films (unless you count an inexplicable change of location to Louisiana). Lon Chaney, Jr. returns to the role of Kharis for one last time...and it is pretty much more of the same. The Mummies (due to the events of the last film there is a female mummy this...so there is that) returns from the swamp to lumber around town for a bit before being ultimately done in. The Mummy films remained more predictable than most of the other films in Universal Monster series.

La ultima peli de la serie de Universal... no consigue levantar la misma, con una historia que a veces bordea el ridiculo (por la cantidad de aÃ±os que ha pasado durante la serie, deberian estar casi en el aÃ±o 2000 y siguen en 1940... por no hablar de estar en los "bayous" con un salacot... :-) ).. pero la verdad es que mantiene por lo menos esa sensaciÃ³n de no pretender ser mÃ¡s de lo que Ã©s... un puro divertimento de la Ã©poca que para 60 minutos no molesta nada...
