attack of the giant crystals! heroic geologists, your time has come! interesting idea and not a bad film for a rainy sunday afternoon

I have no idea how so many reviewers could have dismissed The Monolith Monster from 1958. It's not the most exciting alien ever to have come down to earth in cinema history but at least it's very original. With,also, an appearance by Grant Williams, who also played in The Incredible Shrinking man. Also, films shot in the desert are nice.

A meteor crashes to earth and starts growing whenever into skyscraper-sized monoliths whenever they get wet. This causes problems when they tip over and crush everything underneath them. Oh, and they slowly turn people into stone if they get close during the growing process. The movie explains it with it's science. Short and fun to watch.

Giant rocks from outer space petrify people and grow to mammoth sizes and threaten a small town. For a concept that is so ridiculous it actually has a few good chills and performances. The miniature work it also very good.

A decent 50s sf/horror film. A meteor brings something that grows large crystals which crash down and create more.
