I loved loved loved this film, I just wished that there had been Australian actors cast in the lead roles, despite the fact that I love Laura Linney.

Brilliantly shot, leaves one feeling distant and yet near to the story. One asks what they would do in the same situation. Byrne is brilliant, Linney goes a little OTT, but in general the gist of Lawrence's comments on relationships - be they emotional, social, physical, or racial - is that people are all the same, and make mistakes.

Jindabyne -- named for the lakeside town in which the troubles spill -- can't contain all that the filmmakers want to throw in. Best to keep glued to the taut performance by Laura Linney.

Laura Linney is a genius, Gabriel Byrne is hot, Australia is beautifully desolate, the movie is based on a Raymond Carver story...what's not to love?
