Hard work to view. Imagine Picnic at Hanging Rock meets Twin Peaks. Actually, no. Don't. See it instead.

Don't see this film alone. First, because the main plot is so disturbing. Secondly, because you'll need somebody to talk to afterwards. Pay attention to the subplots. There's lots going on that is trying to hide behind the "slow pace". This is not a film that spoon feeds the audience. The pacing reminds me of "Walkabout". Things are happening, but you have to pay attention.

Jindabyne is uniquely Australian, dealing with Australian issues, and it boasts a wickedly wry conclusion that -- for everything that has come before -- is karmically just.

The film is two plodding hours of people abusing themselves, their livers, a corpse, each other and even small animals. Most abused of all is the audience.
