A film from my early childhood that use to terrify me!!! After all of these years later, I find it and now it fills my heart with absolute laughter! Pretty corny film, but plays it straight much better than it's sequel. Doug McClure and Co. are all that is macho and manly trying to battle dinosaurs and cavemen. Be on the lookout for PG titties. Big giant Cavegirl titties that you can make out perfectly, even in the far distance in once scene. There is a very intersting theme in the film where, as the people go further into the world, the more advanced everything becomes, hinting at Christianity's kryptonite: EVOLUTION!!! Ooooh, scary! Run, Christians, run!!!! Good stuff.

Weird. And kinda silly. But I like the concept.

A WWI U-Boat sails underneath a mountain chain and discovers that the island is inhabited by dinosaurs and cavemen. Nothing special, just your typical 1970s B-movie Dino Flick. The animation for the dinosaurs was funny, as some of them looked like they were running on wheels or tracks.

Doug McClure. In a U-boat. On an island. With dinosaurs.

Doug McClure vs. Dinosaurs round 1. Amicus had been one of the competetitors with Hammer back in the 1960s. In the mid-late 1970s, Amicus released a number of films based on the still-popular writings of Edgar Rice Burroughs. This film was the first one in the series and MGM/UA's 'Midnight Movie' collection will allow you to buy it on DVD complete with its sequel, THE PEOPLE THAT TIME FORGOT. The FX are cheasy, the dialogue is laughable, and one has to have the ability to tolerate Doug McClure towatch this film. Apaarently, in England, hating Doug McClure is a national pasttime.
