bullied terribly as a kid, kevin goes on to live his life withdrawn and a furious temper but events turn his life around which was to be written as a best seller , called the kid, a film with terrific performances capturing the real kevin, as seen at end of film, the 3 actors get him down great, the stry itself shows his transformation, from a troubled bullied youth to failed businessman and tough backstreet fighter for money, the direction brings a sense of the time, and some terrific directing choices, adding to the story a lot, certain parts of his looking grim, his parents story a toiugh watch at times and coming across as a very tough childhood, great music f the period comes off great also. and fine support from everyone involved

theres something really likeable about the kid, its a gritty story told in a stylish way, nick moran certainly shows to be aproduct of the guy ritchie directing influence after starring himself the brilliant lock stock and two smoking barrells. its a heart string tugger and whilst more experienced directors mite have taken some scenes closer to the cutting room floor and not left some scenes as long winded as they are it is ultimatly well told if a little off paced at times. it could do with a little more comic interjection to help lighten the mood of an often depressing storyline but there are brief moments. Its uplifting by the end of it all and whilst it probably wont be the next billy elliot british smash hit it certainly still packs a punch and makes an intresting comment on making the best of the cards your dealt in life.

a very depressing story and what a life....... a rags to riches so to speak!!!! a great cast and a very highly recommended biopic to view. not all will appreciate such a film!!!!

If you're going to make a biopic about an abused child who grows up to be a bare-knuckle boxer, it might help to hire an actor who looks like he can actually handle himself in a scrap or two.

Nick Moran directs a film that half the time has a lot of sincerity in it's structure and deals with the subject matter that's based on a true story brilliantly. The other half rams it's melodramatic tone down your throat!
