THIS MOVIE ROCKS! I'd put it in the category of American Beauty, only it would be Scottish Beauty.

Liked this one a lot. This road movie, about an estranged Father and Daughter joining in a car ride to Aberdeen to visit sick Mom, is actually quite darkly funny, and touching as well. All the leads are great here, with my main man Ian Hart playing a great supporting role as a truck driver with a heart of gold. Very nicely paced and directed, this one's a great movie I can reccomend if you're looking for something off the beaten track.

In the end, grips us precisely because its actors are so utterly absorbed in their roles, so unfettered and nakedly expressive. This is the kind of acting we always look for, but rarely see.

An unsettling movie with great performances from the two leads. It's a father-daughter version of "Leaving Las Vegas".
