An informative account of the 1950s Hollywood blacklisting. Woody Allen was a bit irritating but played his part well.

Truly dramatic. An artistic inquisition, only about 50 years of age. Just a dark time, but the film is a monument to the sacrifice made by so many great artists and today we can appreciate how vulnerable so many actors, directors and writers became at the hands of the political machine. I ask why we have war memorials and none to honor the struggles of our artists.

Very good, very important film. Best film I've seen about the blacklist.

It may be about an important subject (blacklisted writers & actors), but it is terribly executed. Allen can't save this movie from the bad direction and writing. One can only assume the latter was nominated for an Oscar in 1977 for its political content.

Offers the bonus of the reality of its makers' involvement, and one of the greatest closing lines in the history of film.
