Lower City is essentially an intimate, well-observed, compassionate film about what happens when lust gets in the way of friendship.

Set in Salvador, Bahia - a Brazilian city in the North, mostly African-inhabited yet built up and with lots of contrasts. I think this film has a pretty light storyline but gives a very real depiction of life there, especially good cinematography (and Alice Braga is incredibly hot, even playing a prostitute). Worth seeing. It definitely gives a different view of the Carnaval party town...

Lower City is sexy, but in a nice, dirty way. Everyone in it is deliciously low and sleazy, and so underdressed in the blazing heat that they are just dying to strip.
