The Drowning Pool (1975)

Harper is brought to Louisiana to investigate an attempted blackmail scheme. He soon finds out that it involves an old flame of his and her daughter. He eventually finds himself caught in a power struggle between the matriarch of the family and a greedy oil baron, who wants their property. Poor Harper! Things are not as straight-forward as they initially appeared.

good stuff and interesting sequel to "Harper"

New Orleans is a great backdrop, but this is not as interesting as the first. I'm not sure if its the shift from the 60s filmed on sets to the 70s filmed on locations, a different director, a different writer or my lack of conviction for Joanne Woodward, but this just falls flat. Also the homophobic humor wears thin from HARPER to this film.

Harper returns. As good as the first one. It has one of the most mad escape attempts ever in it, that's not really suited for the film. Still, all is good with this one.

Well, it is Paul Newman, and there are some fun scenes, but on the whole, one can live without this one, unless you are doing research on the portrayal of New Orleans in movies
