The Drowning Pool plods along while Harper's pacing has a lot more momentum. Harper is hip and The Drowning Pool takes itself too seriously.

A classic detective story. The beginning is little bit slow but in the end it turns out to be a good one though Newman isn't in his best.

Hell yeah! Chandler-cool meets 60's cool. The end result is very cool indeed. The mystery with all its twists isn't actually that surprising. But the coolness lies rather in the characters. Well-played all around, they seem to be revised from stock at first, but they have in them more than meets the eye. I love Paul Newman in this and the end sequence.

One groovy dance scene is more than enough. More of its' time than a classic, Harper is a very good film because of Paul Newman and William Goldman's script.

Despite a wickedly sharp script, the overall pace of the film seemed too slow. The average two hours just dragged by as we were introduced to a new character every scene with no overarching signifigance. One thing is of course Newman. His character choices truly did make me smile when coupled with some of his lines.
