A fascinating film noir. 1001 movies to see before you die.

It's hard to believe that singing, tap dancing Dick Powell is the best Marlowe, but he is.

great noir with a lame title. the name of chandler's farewell my lovely was changed to distinguish it from powell's many musical comedies as he tried to segue into drama. he makes a great marlowe with pithy dialogue and wonderful sarcastic voice over too. and i just love claire trevor

Really great for a bunch of people i've never heard of. The writing was really witty, the suspense was great, but there is enough humor to make the movie one of the best underrated films of 19watever decade (30s or 40s?) - love the part where he strikes the match on the statues butt
