Seth A. Smith's perplexing and propulsive The Crescent strips away nearly all exuberance from its mise en scène and presents Nova Scotia's naturally picturesque vistas in bleak hues.

Levi Gogeria 15 Aug 2018

Even with a modest budget, The Crescent utilizes its art-house roots, and avant-garde storytelling to weave a smart and sinister tale.

Brian Tallerico 21 Sep 2017

No energy, no rhythm, and no atmosphere, unless you think paint swirls and cellos are terrifying.

Beautiful, Surreal and Terrifying. Saw at least one film every day for two weeks at Vancouver International Film Festival 2017 and this was my favourite.

Norman Wilner 10 Sep 2017

The Crescent falls into a rut, drifting through long, languid sequences of vague menace and dicey dramatic choices.
